ÖZ:

Modern Dünya ile ilerleme kavramı, anlam açısından birbirine çok yakındır. Her iki kavram, yeni/aydın bir insan tipinin ileri görüşlü fikirleri doğrultusunda herhangi bir şey veya konu hakkında en iyisine sahip olma iddiasında bulunmaktadır. Modern Dünyanın bir simgesi olan ilerleme, teknik, ekonomik, evrimsel veya tıbbi alanda bir gelişmeyi tanımlamak için genelde kullanılmaktadır. İlerlemenin çevresel ve sosyo-ekonomik yönden zararlı taraflarını da gören sivil toplumlar, (Post-) Modern Dünyanın ilerleme modelinden vazgeçerek inovasyona sarılmıştır. Toplumsal değişim, bundan böyle hem planlı/kontrollü olmalıydı, hem de sosyal sistemdeki teknik yenilikler, yeni fikirlere dayanmalıydı. Bu süreçte inovasyonlar, gittikçe daha çok sosyal ve hatta toplum temelli nitelik kazanmaya başlamıştır. Toplum yararını gözeten inovasyonlar, çevresel ve sosyo-ekonomik sorunlara çözüm geliştiren sosyal uygulamalar/modeller haline dönüşmüştür. Bu bağlamda bu makalede, başta (Post-) Modern Dünya olmak üzere Modernizm, Modernite, Modernleşme gibi kavramların kökenine inmiş ve bunlarla ilişkilendirilen ilerleme ve (sosyal/toplum temelli) inovasyon açılımları ele alınmıştır. Bu makalenin amacı, tarihsel süreç içindeki ilgili kavramların paradigmal değişimin nedenlerini sosyolojik açıdan değerlendirmektir.

ABSTRACT:

The concept of progress and the Modern World are very close in their meaning. Both concepts aim to have the best of everything or to have themes in line with the forward-looking ideas of a new/enlightened type of person. Progress, a symbol of the modern world, is often used to describe a development in the technical, economic, evolutionary or medical field. Civil societies, which also see the environmentally and socio-economically damaging aspects of progress, have abandoned the model of progress of the (post-) modern world and turned to innovation. Social change should henceforth be both planned and controlled. Moreover, technological innovations in the social system should be based on new ideas. In this process innovations have increasingly gained social and even community-based (societal) qualities. Innovations that serve the common good have evolved into social practices/models that develop solutions to environmental and socio-economic problems. In this context, this article has explored the origin of concepts such as Modernism, Modernity, Modernization, in particular the (Post-) Modern World in according to the associated progress and (social/societal) innovation concepts. The aim of this article is to assess the reasons for the paradigm shift of relevant concepts in the historical process from a sociological perspective.
